One of the most popular features of the Davis Papers website, these charts carry the extended family two generations beyond that of the Confederate president, and the direct line three generations past Davis. This is all the information we have.  Additional data will be added when discovered and verified.
Dates were ascertained as far as possible from primary sources, such as marriage records, tombstones, and contemporary testimony; much reliance has also been placed on family records. The genealogical charts in Volume 1 include extensive annotation which gives the sources of data and clarifies various points. Many corrections were made when Volume 1 was revised in 1991, so be sure to consult the updated edition.  Members of the direct paternal line are in italics. You may also go directly to Jefferson Davis' family.
